This walking route through Emmerich takes you past silent witnesses of the final phase of the Second World War. You'll discover locations where Canadian engineers built emergency bridges in 1945 to support the Allied advance. Along the way, you'll also learn about the history of the Biber mini-submarines, which were deployed on the Rhine in an attempt to destroy key bridges. To this day, one of these submarines can still be seen in the garden of the Rheinmuseum — a tangible reminder of this turbulent time.
