In 1943, on the Marnixplein, an air force hospital bunker (type 638) was constructed. The entire airfield, along with all its defensive works, has disappeared due to the expansion of Vlissingen. This bunker is therefore the only remaining structure that recalls Vlissingen’s aviation history. (The bunker is currently still covered with soil, but it will be excavated next year and will be open to visitors at set times.)
