It is late March 1945, and fierce fighting is still raging in the Achterhoek. Meanwhile, British troops have captured Bocholt in Germany and are preparing to cross the border towards Winterswijk with two divisions of tanks and armored vehicles.
On 30 March, Good Friday, the Allies approached Woold. The situation remained tense: they advanced rapidly, but the German defenses, despite their weakened position, were determined and ready to fight to the limit.
