It was in the autumn of 1943 when the Philipson couple had to report to Amsterdam Central Station. As a member of the Jewish Council, Rabbi Philipson, together with his wife and little daughter, was among the last to be summoned for transport—supposedly to a labor camp in Poland. At the very last moment, however, the Philipsons managed to escape deportation and eventually lived to see the liberation in Lemele. Mina and Albert Warmelink sheltered them, kept them in hiding, and later shared their story.
